Phantom Interference: A Ghostly Counter from the Junction

Phantom Interference is a compact blue Instant that rewards timing and economy. For a single blue mana you get flexible disruption through its Spree mechanic. The card allows you to hold priority to either tax an opposing spell with a pay two option or to expand board presence by spending the additional cost to create a 2 2 white Spirit with flying. This makes Phantom Interference useful both as a one mana tempo play and as a late game value generator when you can pay for the extra effects.

In Outlaws of Thunder Junction lore this plays like the meddlesome spirit of Winston, who interferes with both plans and play at a moment notice. Use it in control shells to buy a turn or in tempo decks to convert a blanked counter into a flying blocker. The Light Play foil finish highlights the spectral art while keeping the card suitable for play or display.
