Mimic Vat is a compact artifact that turns creature deaths into a repeatable threat. Cast it for three colorless mana and let its imprint ability harvest a nontoken creature the moment it dies. The printed imprint trigger is straightforward and allows you to hold a single exiled copy while returning any previous exiles to the graveyard. That behavior keeps the board state predictable when planning a copy into play.

Activate its clone ability for three mana and a tap to create a token copy of the exiled card. The token gains haste and is exiled at the beginning of the next end step. In practice this makes the card a tool for surprise blockers or last gasp value on demand.
