Deepfathom Echo rewards players who plan ahead. The Extended Art foil presents the Merfolk Spirit hovering over submerged ruins with a cool palette that reads well in play and on display. For {2}{G}{U} you get a 4 4 body and a triggered effect that makes the Echo explore at the start of combat on your turn. The card works as a tempo piece and a toolbox when you have other creatures on the board.
The second line of the printed text lets Deepfathom Echo copy another creature you control until end of turn. That makes it useful for copying evasive attackers or powerful enters the battlefield effects after it explores. In drafts and commander lists the Echo is flexible.
