Echo of the Deep
Deepfathom Echo is a compact engine that turns a midrange board into a toolbox. The creature reads as a 4 4 Merfolk Spirit for {2}{G}{U} that explores at the beginning of combat on your turn. The explore trigger pairs with its second ability which lets it copy another creature you control until end of turn. That timing is tidy for combat math and lets you reuse enters the battlefield abilities on a creature you already have in play.
From a deck building perspective Deepfathom Echo rewards careful sequencing. It helps stabilize against wide boards by copying a large attacker or a creature with evasive traits. In Limited it trades cleanly and can become a surprise threat. In Constructed it slots into shell where creature synergies and enter the battlefield effects are already present. The Lost Caverns of Ixalan flavor fits the card well since the Echo behaves like a recovered memory from the deep caverns converted into tactical advantage.
