Black Market Connections
Black Market Connections is a practical tool for decks that trade life for board advantage. The card lets you pick one or more modes at the start of your precombat main phase. You can mint a Treasure token at a small life cost, draw a card for a slightly higher price, or create a 3/2 colorless Shapeshifter token with changeling for three life. Each option scales predictably so you can plan turns ahead and sequence mana and removal around the tokens you choose to produce.
In Commander play the card doubles as a recurring resource engine and a predictable threat generator. Use it to smooth draws when your hand is thin, to fund artifact synergies, or to supply evasive changelings for tribal support. The life payments matter but are manageable in decks built to exploit incremental advantage. This is a measured choice for players who prefer steady value over swingy plays.
