The Mycotyrant’s power and toughness scale directly with your board presence so each token or creature that fits the tribe makes it a bigger threat. With trample it converts that growing mass into meaningful damage through blockers that would normally try to absorb small attackers.

On the back end this card feeds your token engine. At the beginning of your end step it generates 1 1 black Fungus tokens that cannot block based on how many times you descended that turn. The effect rewards sacrifice or self mill lines and pairs well with cards that repeatedly put permanents into the graveyard.
