The Key to the Vault is a compact toolkit for decks that want to convert combat damage into card advantage and surprise plays. Castable for one and blue, this legendary artifact equips onto your attacker and triggers whenever that creature deals combat damage to a player. Each successful strike lets you dig through cards from the top of your library equal to the damage dealt, exile a nonland among them and shuffle the rest to the bottom in a random order. It is a reliable way to chain value off evasive attackers or to cash in big hits from a trampler.
Play patterns center on maximizing damage and timing the equip. The ability to cast the exiled card without paying its mana cost rewards careful sequencing and resource management rather than brute force.
