Take the Fall plays like a precise toolbox card for blue decks that want tempo and card economy. As an Instant for a single blue mana Take the Fall lets you weaken a blocker or push through a damage step while still leaving priority open. The default effect gives target creature minus one toughness until end of turn which is enough to finish off small blockers or change combat math in your favor.
There is added value when your table presence supports outlaws. Take the Fall upgrades to minus four toughness if you control an outlaw which turns this into a one mana removal spell against most early threats. You also draw a card so the card replaces itself and keeps your hand moving. This is a practical pick for limited and budget constructed lists from Outlaws of Thunder Junction.
