Sudden Setback — Flip Their Move

Sudden Setback is a tactical countermeasure that turns tempo into a weapon. At {2}{U}{U} this Instant forces the owner of a target spell or nonland permanent to choose whether it goes to the top or bottom of their library. Use it to neutralize a threatening creature after blockers are declared, to exile a critical enchantment from play for several turns, or to exile a resolved spell before it can be cast again from a graveyard by an opponent.

From a gameplay perspective Sudden Setback rewards careful timing. It does not destroy, exile, or remove ownership. Instead it reshapes future draws and forces opponents to replan. In Karlov Manor terms this is a precise, cold cut to momentum. Players familiar with tempo play will appreciate how a well placed Sudden Setback can defuse combo lines or buy a turn to stabilize the board.
