Reliable Lookout

Staunch Crewmate is a compact blue value engine that fits cleanly into artifact or Pirate focused decks. The card name appears on a two power one toughness Human Pirate that costs {1}{U}. When it enters the battlefield you sift through the top four cards of your library and may reveal an artifact or Pirate card to add to your hand while the remainder go to the bottom in a random order. That effect smooths draws and accelerates key plays without requiring extra mana investment.

In Lost Caverns of Ixalan builds this card reads as efficient card selection rather than raw removal or tempo. Use Staunch Crewmate to assemble combo pieces or locate a one drop that lets you commit to the board. The small bit of lore on the card captures its determined air and the illustration reinforces the practical, get the job done approach it brings to tight turns.
