Ripples of Potential rewards timing and setup. As an instant that starts with proliferate it fits naturally into counter based decks and control shells. You can add counters to what already exists then phase those permanents out the same turn, which protects key pieces from removal and sets up a return with full counters in your next upkeep window.

Use it to preserve a planeswalker, refresh a tax or lock piece, or protect a creature that will enter again with fresh impact. It reads simply but interacts cleanly with commander strategies that care about +1 counters and poison counters and energy. The card is versatile in multiplayer too since the proliferate step can grow multiple axes at once before the phase out resolves.
