Restless Vents is a pragmatic addition to midrange and aggressive red black decks. Restless Vents enters the battlefield tapped but supplies either {B} or {R} once it is ready. The card doubles as mana and a tactical threat because you can pay 1{B}{R} to turn it into a 2/3 black and red Insect creature with menace until end of turn. That shape shift preserves its land identity so you can still use it for mana on the same turn it attacks if you plan ahead.

In play the card offers incidental card selection. When Restless Vents attacks you may discard a card to draw a card which smooths late game hands and fuels graveyard synergies. Use it to bait removal, push through a blocker with menace, or to keep your mana consistent while you set up a larger push.
