Molten Collapse is a straightforward removal tool that fits cleanly into aggressive black red decks looking for flexible answers. For {2}{B}{R} the sorcery offers two tidy modes and a payoff for decks that sacrifice or mill into their graveyard. Use it to clear a blocker or to deal with low cost token artifacts and enchantments that slip past your other answers. The Light Play foil shows the cavernous lava flow in warm detail making it a nice addition to both playsets and display sleeves.

Functionally the card reads as conditional split removal with a triggered bonus if you descended this turn. That clause rewards self mill sacrifice and some deck building choices common on Ixalan themed lists. In practical play it buys tempo by eliminating a threat or cleaning up narrow permanents with mana value one or less while remaining simple to sequence during mid game turns.
