As a one two legendary creature that costs {G}{U}, Lonis triggers whenever another nontoken creature enters the battlefield under your control and lets you investigate. The investigate trigger is a steady source of clues you can spend for value and it sets up the second ability that turns information into permanents.

The activated ability requires tapping and sacrificing X clues to dig into an opponent library and potentially put a nonland permanent with mana value X or less onto your battlefield. In practice Lonis doubles as a tempo play and a toolbox tutor that benefits token free lists and creature heavy builds. Include ways to generate clues and protect Lonis and you get repeatable asymmetric advantage that fits the Murders at Karlov Manor mood without being flashy.
