Kaito, Bane of Nightmares arrives as a versatile planeswalker that doubles as an evasive win condition. The card text gives you Ninjutsu {1}{U}{B} allowing surprise deployment from hand by returning an unblocked attacker to your hand. During your turn, if Kaito has one or more loyalty counters on him, he is also a 3/4 Ninja creature with hexproof which makes him both a threat and a defensive anchor in tempo oriented builds.
His loyalty suite supports a control to value plan. The plus ability grants an emblem that buffs your ninjas by +1/+1 for ongoing pressure. The zero ability lets you Surveil 2 and then draw a card for each opponent who lost life this turn which pairs cleanly with stealth damage or life loss engines.
