Emperor of Bones Reigns in the Graveyard
Emperor of Bones offers compact aggression with graveyard utility. With a mana cost of {1}{B}, the 2/2 Skeleton Noble arrives early and remains relevant through the match. At the start of combat on your turn, exile up to one target card from a graveyard, giving you a tool to sculpt your next moves while denying an option to your foe. Its {1}{B} Adapt 2 ability lets the Emperor grow to meet the game state, adding a new dimension to board presence as more +1/+1 counters land. The Extended Art foil version from Modern Horizons 3 makes its skeletal figure shimmer on the battlefield.
When one or more +1/+1 counters are placed on Emperor of Bones, you can put a creature card exiled with the Emperor onto the battlefield under your control with a +1/+1 counter on it. The creature gains haste and must be sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step, creating a brief but meaningful tempo swing. This card blends graveyard manipulation, flexible growth and a targeted reanimation engine into a practical tool for black based strategies in Modern Horizons 3.
