Dogged Detective is a compact graveyard engine that rewards careful library manipulation and timing. For one and a black you get a 2 1 body that lets you surveil two on entry, trimming your draws while setting up the graveyard. The built in return clause triggers off an opponent taking their second draw each turn so the card keeps coming back into your hand when the table is digging for cards.

Use Dogged Detective in decks that value recursion and incremental advantage. Surveil is efficient here because it both fuels the graveyard and smooths your topdecks. Against draw heavy opponents the return trigger becomes a repeatable tempo play. The card fits naturally in graveyard synergies and low to the ground black aggro lists while still offering utility in slower control shells.
