The card forces opponents to discard when it attacks and rewards you when they cannot, turning pressure into raw card draw. With flying and lifelink it trades favorably in the air while feeding your hand and life total, which makes it easy to justify in midrange or control shells that want a recurring threat.
The synergy with discard matter is straightforward and reliable. Whenever an opponent discards a land you get a flying 1 1 Bat token that keeps the sky crowded.
