Vaan, Street Thief: Master Scout of the Shadows

Vaan, Street Thief brings a fresh dynamic to any deck focused on Scouts, Pirates, or Rogues, embodying the cunning and resourcefulness typical of his Final Fantasy origins. This legendary creature offers a unique form of card advantage by exiling the top card of an opponent’s library whenever your creatures deal combat damage. You can cast that card if possible, otherwise generating a Treasure token to fuel your mana base. This ability rewards aggressive board presence and thoughtful sequencing in combat, creating a tangible payoff for controlling the board.

Moreover, Vaan amplifies your spellcasting synergy by granting a +1/+1 counter on each Scout, Pirate, and Rogue you control whenever you cast a spell you don’t own. This mechanic encourages interaction with cards outside your deck, enhancing tribal strategies while providing incremental growth across your team. Vaan’s 2/2 stats at a cost of {2}{R} fit comfortably into midrange builds that value tempo and incremental advantage, making him a valuable inclusion for players exploring the Universes Beyond: FINAL FANTASY set.
