The Grim Captain's Locker rewards patient graveyard management. Tap it to surveil and sculpt the top of your deck before you commit. Later in the game you can tap it again to give every creature card in your graveyard an escape cost, turning dead threats into repeatable pressure at the price of three and a black plus four other exiles from your graveyard. This works especially well in decks that want to deploy value from the graveyard while still offering a firm control on recursion costs.

In deck building think of the Locker as an engine piece rather than a one shot. It smooths draws with surveil and converts a stocked graveyard into a steady source of reanimated attackers or value creatures that trigger on ETB. The extended art frame keeps the card visible in play and helps opponents remember the escape tax. Practical play patterns include sequencing surveil before a discard or self mill so you keep high impact creature cards available for escape when you need them.
