When the equipped creature is untapped, your untapped creatures gain extra toughness which helps stall opposing beaters and shore up a defensive formation.

This Near Mint Foil from Ravnica Remastered also lets you flip the equation for three mana by tapping or untapping the equipped creature. That activated option lets you pivot midgame between committing to combat and protecting key creatures. The Equip cost is three mana which keeps it playable in decks that want a persistent anthem effect without competing for key colored spots.
