Quench: Efficient Tempo Control
Quench is a compact counterspell that trades tempo for a low casting cost. As Quench from Ravnica Remastered, it lets you counter target spell unless its controller pays {2}. That conditional tax makes Quench valuable in early turns when opponents lack spare mana and in midgame sequences where denying a key removal or combo piece preserves your board. It slots cleanly into blue lists that want interaction without committing heavy card slots to full cost counters.
Play Quench when you need an inexpensive answer that pressures your opponent’s resource curve. Use it to protect a developing threat, to disrupt a combo line, or to bait out counterplay and leave more expensive counters for later. The card reads simply and resolves predictably which is an advantage in tight stack decisions. In Ravnica play Quench complements tempo strategies and rewards timing and reading your opponent’s mana shape.
