Turn Pain into Protection

Pariah's Shield rewrites the traffic in a combat step. The card Pariah's Shield makes you the conduit and your equipped creature the recipient. Cast it for {5} to have an artifact on the battlefield that reroutes harm; any damage that would be dealt to you is dealt to the equipped creature instead. That change in priority alters how opponents sequence removal and combat damage and gives you a clear way to protect planeswalker loyalty, combo pieces, or a key blocker.

Equip 3 keeps this simple and repeatable. In a Boros or Orzhov shell you will use it to shield a high value creature, in a control build it buys time against burn and incremental damage sources. The piece reads like a small piece of Ravnica lore with a civic edge; bearing the shield marks both duty and exile. Practical on its own and more powerful when the board already favors your creatures.
