Icon of Ancestry is a compact tutor and anthem for creature tribal decks. As it enters the battlefield you choose a creature type and from that point forward creatures you control of that type get a steady +1/+1. That passive boost is straightforward and pairs well with tribal synergies and anthem effects you may already run in Commander.

The activated ability trades three colorless mana and a tap for card selection. Look at the top three cards of your library and you may reveal a creature card of the chosen type to put into your hand. In practice this smooths draws and finds critical tribal pieces late in the game. For players building around a single tribe the piece reads as efficient utility that both grows your board and refills your hand.
