Herald of Ilharg answers an empty board with straightforward pressure. Herald of Ilharg is a 3 3 trampler that grows whenever you cast creatures. The built in synergy favors decks that chain creatures into play so the creature becomes both a threat and a recurring source of incremental value.
Play patterns are simple to read. Put two +1/+1 counters on Herald of Ilharg each time you cast a creature spell and if the creature you cast has mana value five or greater the card converts its counters into direct damage to each opponent. That conversion makes Herald of Ilharg useful in midrange shells that lean into big creatures or token generation.
