In practice this card punishes passive boards and rewards timing. It lets you trade tempo for a single large threat while still offering evasive reach thanks to flying.

As an Extended Art rare from Commander Murders at Karlov Manor this copy shows the scene of a city under flame and a flame elemental taking form. Use it as a mid to late game play where your opponents have multiple creatures and you can capitalize on goaded power.
