Etchings of the Chosen is a compact engine for tribal decks in white and black. As it enters the battlefield you lock in a creature type and immediately grant a steady anthem boost to your relevant creatures. The static bonus makes each token and low cost creature a more meaningful contributor to board presence while you develop a mana base and other synergies.
The activated ability trades a creature for a temporary safeguard. Pay one and sacrifice a creature of the chosen type to give one of your creatures indestructible until end of turn. That exchange plays well in decks that can recur creatures or that generate sacrificial fodder. In lore terms this piece reads like a ritual carving that binds chosen warriors to fate and shields one when the design demands a price.
