Discovery // Dispersal offers a choice between digging for answers or disrupting an opponent at a key moment. Discovery gives a straightforward card advantage play with surveil that lets you sculpt the top of your library and then draw. It is useful in control shells and graveyard synergies where seeing and filtering two cards can set up later turns.
Turned to Dispersal the card becomes a tactical removal tool that forces opponents to lose their most expensive nonland threat back to hand and then discard. That combines tempo loss and resource depletion in one instant. As with many split spells from the Karlov Manor set this card rewards players who know when to dig and when to deny.
