Desert's Due — Mirage Control
Desert's Due is a compact black instant that fits cleanly into tempo and removal lanes. For one and a black mana you shrink a single threat until end of turn, with the effect scaling as you lock down the table by controlling Deserts. The art and flavor lean into Outlaws of Thunder Junction's sunbaked grit, so expect this to play well where one sided interaction and battlefield denial matter.
Use it to clear the way for a blocker, protect a combo window, or neuter a surprise attacker. In limited play it doubles as a combat trick that punishes opponents who overcommit. The wording rewards a board built around the Desert subtype without asking for complicated setup which makes the card straightforward to evaluate during a match.
