Anchor Their Threat

Dead Weight is a compact removal tool that quietly changes combat math. Dead Weight enchants a creature and reduces its stats by two in both directions, making it a reliable answer to early aggressors or a way to neuter a problematic blocker before you push damage through. The card name and effect are straightforward which makes it easy to sequence with sacrifice outlets or bounce effects that can reuse the aura.

In Lost Caverns of Ixalan play Dead Weight slots into grindy black lists that value efficient answers. It pairs naturally with creatures and triggers that care about -1 1 counters or power drops while still offering tempo when cast on turn one. The lore nod fits the set tone with treasure chased across caverns and hired muscle that did not live up to their price.
