Caught in the Crossfire
Caught in the Crossfire is a two mana instant that reads like a toolbox for red decks that want flexible board clearing on demand. The spree mechanic invites you to pay one or more additional costs to split the damage pattern. Pay into the first option to thin out boards full of Outlaws. Pay into the second option to punish ordinary creatures. You can choose either option or both so the card adapts to midrange boards and tight tempo turns.
In game terms this is precise removal that scales. It works well as a response to token swarms and as a clean answer to problematic non Outlaw permanents. In Outlaws of Thunder Junction builds the printed foil art and Light Play condition make this a satisfying playset piece for sideboards and main decks alike. Play it from hand to clear lanes and preserve your tempo.
