Blood Crypt Basics
Blood Crypt is a staple land for players who want reliable black and red access without cluttering a mana base. As Blood Crypt enters the battlefield you may pay two life to have it come in untapped. If you decline the life payment it enters the battlefield tapped. The card provides either {B} or {R} with a simple tap and scales well in aggressive discard builds and control decks that need splash consistency.
On Ravnica the crypts and forges coexist in uneasy proximity and this land reflects that politics. Blood Crypt rewards pacing and counting life as a resource. Use it to accelerate a turn one play or to keep late game options open when every mana matters. Experienced players will register when to pay life and when to take a tempo loss.
