Serpent Snag: Ankle Biter

Ankle Biter is a compact green one drop that pulls its weight in any tempo shell. The card reads simply yet cleanly; for one green you get a 1 1 Snake with deathtouch. It slots into early game plays to trade up against larger attackers or to tax removal on your opponent while you build board presence. Players familiar with Outlaws of Thunder Junction know these small threats can dictate combat math and open up favorable trades on turn one.

This Light Play foil copy is a playable pick for casual and competitive lists that lean into efficient creatures and removal insurance. The flavor leans into the set theme with a wry line that hints at frontier hazards. Use it as a turn one drop in aggro decks, a chump blocker that deters attacks, or a surprise defensive body that flips combat in your favor. Practical, concise and reliable in tight board states.
